Miami International Airport, also known historically as Wilcox Field, and currently as MIA, is the main airport that operates in the metropolitan area in the southernmost tip of Florida, in the United States. It is the main airport thanks to its services and international flights. Miami International is also one of the 8 North American airports that can park the Airbus A380 superjumbo.

MIA has passenger and heavy cargo flights to countries in the Americas, Europe and even West and East Asia.

MIA is the most important gateway between the United States and all of Latin America, and is one of the largest airline hubs in the country, due to its proximity to tourist attractions, economic development, cities and important location operating connecting traffic between North America and Europe.

In 2011 it ranked first in the United States for having a record number of international flights and second for having an excessive volume of international users. Terminals

The main terminal at MIA was founded in 1959. It is semicircular in shape, has a linear lobby (Concourse D) and 5 concourses like a pier, numbered counterclockwise from E to J. Concourse A is currently integrated with Concourse D, Concourses B and C were eliminated so that the entrance to Concourse D could be added where they are today, and a Concourse I was named to avoid confusion with the number #1. From the opening of the terminal until 1970, the halls were numbered clockwise.

North Terminal (Blue)

This terminal was initially the site of Concourses A, B, C and D, which are separate. Hall D used to be one of the original airport halls at the time of 1959, being rushed as Hall 5. After modifications similar to Hall C in the mid-1970s, it was developed in 1984 and the original part was fully refurbished between 1986 and 1989, connecting the immigration and customs hall to Hall E, allowing it to handle incoming baggage and international flights.

In August 2010, another extension for American Eagle flights was opened and named Gate D60.18

Central Terminal (Yellow)

The Central Terminal consists of three concourses, labeled E, F and G, with a combined total of 52 general purpose gates.

Miami-Dade Aviation Center wants to fix up the Central Terminal after the completion of the North Terminal, this is done with the intention of offering better deals, the Central Terminal will be used to host airlines not associated with any of the “Big 3” airline associations, as well as the low-fare airlines that the airport hopes to integrate.

South Terminal (Red)

This south terminal consists of two halls, labeled H and J, with a combined total of 28 gates for general use.

The Hall J building and the South Terminal were founded in 2007. The new remodeling consists of 7 levels and has fifteen gates for international use and a total area of 120,000 m², including 2 VIP lounges and some offices. Lounge H is used by Delta Air Lines and its SkyTeam shareholders, while Lounge J is used by United Airlines and its Star Alliance shareholders.
